This Illustrated Summary Catalogue provides the first complete picture of the collection of old-master and 19th-century paintings in the possession of the Dutch state. The nucleus of the collection comprises works which were recovered in Germany shortly after World War II and which could not be returned to their rightful owners far a variety of reasons. This catalogue will primarily serve as an indispensable source of information for institutes and museums in Holland and abroad wishing to loan paintings. It will also without doubt be useful as a reference work for art historians in general.
